Recap of Recent Events
Plant Sale

KDM held its first ever Plant Sale fundraiser on May 19th. The Plant Sale committee has been hard at work since February to get the plants ready. There were $1,600 worth of plants sold the night of the event! The leftover plants from the sale continued to be sold to the Malvern community and our KDM teachers were gifted plants as well. This successful fundraiser also offered a fun learning opportunity for the volunteers and KDM community! It was a success for a first year event! A big thank you to our hardworking Plant Sale Committee led by Jeanette Harpold! Thank you to Jeanette, Chelsea Jacobs, Steph Gunderson, Stephanie Beard, Stephanie Truskolaski, Sri Ghatta, Karen Butow, Jamie Bricker, Lisa Horenziak and Judy Fong! We appreciate all of the work you did to make this a successful event at KDM! Also, thank you to all of the volunteers who helped the night of the sale!

KDM Recess Fun Days

The infamous KDM Treat Wheel was transformed this year to the KDM Prize Wheel for our KDM Fun Days! There was great music and beautiful weather as the students had a chance to win a prize during the recess fun. There were lots of smiling faces as the kids played for a prize with the Prize Wheel as well as enjoyed a game of Gaga Ball with their friends. Stephanie Truskolaski and Christina Maddox did an amazing job with the KDM Prize Wheel. Thank you both very much for all of your efforts and for keeping this KDM tradition alive! Students also were able to enjoy a bubble show from Bubbletopia! Students enjoyed chasing the bubbles and watching to see how large he could make them. It was a fun time for everyone!

Raffle Baskets, Teacher Experience Raffles & The Silent Auction Fundraising Success!

The Raffle Baskets, Teacher Experience Raffles and the Silent Auction held during Spring Fun Days were a huge fundraising success!

Thank you to the Parent Coordinators that led the efforts on assembling amazing raffle baskets. We are so appreciative to our teachers and staff who donated their Teacher Experiences to be raffled off. The Raffle Baskets and Teacher Experience Raffles raised over $6,000 for our PTO!

Our silent auction committee doubled the size of the KDM auction this year as they secured over 60 items for our families to bid on. They connected with many local businesses and collected a large array of items. A special thanks to the Santry family, the McFadden family, and the Smith-Simcox family for donating our largest items this year. We had over 30 winners and raised over $4,000. This was a fun and successful fundraiser!

A big thank you to our Committees!

Heritage Celebration

The Heritage showcase was on display for KDM students on Tuesday, May 23rd. The students visited tables showcasing various countries and received stickers for their passports as they learned interesting facts. It was a wonderful celebration at KDM! A big thank you to all of the families & teachers who made a cultural table for our children to experience!

Thank you to Partha Krishnaswamy for coordinating this incredible celebration for our students. We are so grateful to the support we received from our teachers and staff: Mrs. Sajeski, Mrs. Yepremian and Miss Gorr.

The PTO would like to extend our sincere gratitude to Lauren Naylor and David Six for leading this fundraising effort.

Mileage Club

Thank you to Lisa Horenziak and Jamie Bricker for taking the lead and co-chairing Mileage Club for our 3rd, 4th and 5th graders!  They did an amazing job motivating our students to get out there and run!

Thank you to all the volunteers that helped each Tuesday for our Spring Mileage Club. We cannot run this favorite recess activity without your help! Keep up with this healthy habit and encourage your kids to run this summer!

KDM Class of 2023 / GVSD Class of 2030

The KDM PTO celebrated our 5th graders on June 7th. To celebrate, the 5th graders competed in an amazing game show hosted by Mr. Ellis and Mr. Salerno. Thank you Mr. Ellis and Mr. Salerno - competitive fun was had by all!

The students also enjoyed an inflatable obstacle course and slide, Gaga Ball, lawn games, frozen treats, hungry hungry hippos, and a DJ from Empower Events.

Thank you to Tara Pellini, Dre Lanning-Guenster, Andrea Krill, and Tracy Martin for coordinating this fun event for our students. Many thanks to all of the parent volunteers who helped make this event a success!

We are starting to plan for next year and looking to set up our committee leads for the 2023-2024 school year, and have several openings available. We wanted to highlight that we are looking for a volunteer to lead our Kindergarten Playdate in August. If you have an incoming Kindergartener and are interested, we would love to hear from you. Additionally, we are starting to form the 4th & 5th grade celebration committees.  Please take a look at the form for a full list of the opportunities.

This is a great way to get involved at KDM! If you are interested, please submit the form below.
